A victim of discrimination? Is your hair color preventing you from getting a well paying job, or even a job at all? Or have you had to submit to the corporate masters and dye your hair back to a "normal" color?

"I've Put Up With Your Hair For Too Long"

I am currently taking advantage of unemployment. I got fired and my employer's excuse was that he had put up with my hair color for too long. I worked for him for a year and it had never been a past problem. In fact, I was hired with Manic Panic's Aftermidnight Blue shoulder length hair. It just goes to show that the color of my hair is a justafiable excuse for letting me go, though I have done nothing wrong.

I am now working on a colaboration series with one of my roomates and any other artists who would like to join in. It involves photographs of each artist's interpretation of my cranium, whether it be coloring, styling, cutting, or buzzing, anything goes.

Ronald McDonald, The Hypocrite

janenthusiast.jpg

Allison Bamford is a 16 year old girl living in the suburbs of Boston, MA. Her hair has been almost all, if not every color of the rainbow. Recently, she came to the conclusion as we all have to do at one point or another, that she needed money, and therefore, a job. Being only 16, her occupational choices were limited to McDonalds, and well, maybe a paper route or lemon aid stand. So McDonald's it was.

Unfortunatly, McDonald's is but one of many discriminating corporations which do not allow its employees to color their hair an "unnatural" color. She was turned away whilst sporting Flavine (now electric banana) the first time she applied. She came back to apply later with a more mild red as seen in her picture, yet was rejected again for the same reason. So Allison was forced to submit to the unfair, and purposeless guidelines that the golden arches have set for its employees.

Ronald McDonald, the mascot for the fast food chain since 1965 has bright red hair, certainly more "offensive" than the color Rubine (Now called Devine Wine) by Manic Panic, that Allison previously wore. What, I ask you, does the color of your hair have to do with your ability to work? If anything, the happy meal king known world wide not only proves unnatural hair color is alright, but that it sells.
